HOW TO WORK WITH US

We offer various options for cooperation

You see a need for research or development in your company and need concrete solutions quickly? We support you in finding and implementing solutions. A consultation with us will show you which solutions are available, which cooperation (individual order, large-scale project, etc.) is suitable and what expenditure can be expected. Moreover, we know which funding options are available.

 

For interdisciplinary tasks, we work closely with other research institutions and specialized companies and are therefore able to offer complex system solutions.

Industrial Contract Research

Our contract research projects are characterized by clearly defined goals, work packages and milestones, and provide you with directly implementable results for your company.

This may be a single order, which usually only involves the company placing the order and LZSiS.

Other tasks are complex enough to require several partners to develop the solution together. In such cases, the expertise of all Fraunhofer Institutes is available for you, covering all conceivable topics. External partners and other companies can also be engaged. At Fraunhofer, we have experience in handling large projects efficiently and fairly.

 

A Proposal Examples 

After making contact and holding initial exploratory discussions, you decide together with us about the further cooperation. As part of this agreement, you will receive a concrete offer from us, which forms the basis of our project work.

In it, we outline:

1. The initial situation we have identified

2. The objective of the task we are working on

3. The project structure = collaboration and project management

(brief overview of the WPs, information about project management, communication, responsibilities, awarding and acceptance of contracts)

4. The planned procedure = explanation of individual work packages

5. A schedule = project plan

6. The pricing

Strategic Partnership

The LZSiS accelerates development and innovation processes. A strategic partnership grants you regulated access to our growing expertise and technical capabilities. For example, as a company you can provide us with the latest machinery and plant technology for testing and research purposes at the institute, or you can use our technical equipment or know-how to familiarize yourself with new technologies. This gives you planning assurance for your research and innovation projects.

Major projects/ joint projects

Some problems are so complex that several partners have to develop the solution. In such cases, the entire environment of Fraunhofer Institutes is available to clients. External partners and other companies could also be involved.

Public funding - from the state, federal government or EU - usually plays a role in these large-scale projects. In publicly funded research projects, industrial companies develop new topics together with research institutes. Industrial partners and research institutions jointly apply for funding for a joint project. The results of such projects are pre-competitive findings and widely applicable methods. These can then be subsequently adapted and transferred to company-specific requirements and applications, for example as part of contract research.
